Sci-fied Canadian Classic Literature

Posted on Updated on

“Pride And Prejudice and Zombies” by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith, and its follow-up “Sense And Sensibility And Sea Monsters” have been around for several years. It’s about time that Canadian classics were given similar homages. I’d argue that since adding monsters would infringe on what Seth Grahame-Smith was doing, it would be more refreshing to cross them with science fiction instead. Here are my suggestions for potential titles:

Anne of Soylent Green Gables

The Starship of Duddy Kravitz

Beautiful Losers Totally Recall (not a play on words, but it’s about a guy looking back on things that may or may not be true)

The Diviner’s Guide To Future-Sight

The Weeping Stone Angel

In The Skin of A Genetically Modified Lion

Jake And The Robot Kid

The Life Of Pirated Dreamscapes

The Handmaid’s Tale is already science fiction, and adding any more sci-fi tropes puts it in the Firefly universe, so… The Alliance Eugenicmaid’s Tale? The Triumph Settlers’ Maiden House Slave’s Tale? Are those too awkward?

Neuromancer… cannot be included in this list. Sorry.

And because I grew up in the 1980s: This Can’t Be Happening On Macdonald Holodeck

Are there any titles you would add?
