a sad goodbye to Canadian Film Review

Posted on

Since Press +1 Magazine announced its intention to move to Canadian Film Review, focusing on (you guessed it) Canadian content, I’ve written an article a month for them, for free. Most of the contributors are volunteers, and we do it out of love for our collective cultural heritage. Canada makes good, solid films, television series, and web content. Due to our relatively small population, plus any number of other reasons (everyone has a theory) our country isn’t great about promoting its own work. For this reason, magazines like Canadian Film Review are necessary to the lifeblood of our industry. I’m not just talking about foreign productions shooting here, I’m talking about our stories told by our storytellers. Every culture needs that.

Sadly, Canadian Film Review is ending in a few days, due to lack of sponsorship. It will be online for the next year, so hopefully it can be revived. Fingers crossed.
